Search Tips

General Searches:
Where boxes are provided, type in words that describe what you want to find. Example: typing mountain climbing will find sites related to mountain and/or climbing.

Name Searches:
Type in the name (Capitalised! eg: John instead of john - certain search engines are case sensitive!)

Where options are available you can restrict searches to select areas. For the broadest results - a scatter-gun approach - you can search the World Wide Web. For more detailed search criteria, or tips go directly to the Search Service's site (click on the respective icon or name eg Infoseek).

Search Usenet news groups and discussion forums. Very thorough. Power Search facility allows very specific queries.
Complete with reviews of each site. Can also be used to search Usenet discussion groups.
Catalogs and displays an excerpt for each individual web page (as opposed to entire sites) that matches your search criteria.
Reviews and rates sites. Displays a summary and a link to the review for each site that matches your search criteria. You can also browse their hot sites.
MetaSearch facility - A Starting Point to search the Web!
Very thorough, easy-to-use search engine.
Organises sites by category. Displays a summary of the site that matches your search criteria, and a link to the site's category. When Yahoo fails to find a site, it provides you with options to search using the following search engines:
Open Text " Alta Vista " Lycos " Inktomi " and others...
