Highest Peak: Kanchenjunga - (8598m / 28208ft)
First Ascent 1955 - Brown, Band, Hardie and Streather
Third highest peak in the World. Out of respect for the wishes of the Sikkim people, who regard the summit as sacred, mountaineers have left the summit snows untouched. Joe Brown, George Band, Norman Hardie and Tony Streather are credited with the first ascent (1955); stopping at a point some 20 feet below the actual summit.
